Understanding local edits and Push

Updated on 2026-08-26

Applies to: AdWing campaigns, ad sets and ads

Every change you make in AdWing is saved locally first and only goes live on Meta when you click Push. This is the single most important concept in AdWing — every other article assumes it.

Before you start

  • None

How it works

  1. Make a change — an ad's headline, an ad set's budget, a creative swap — and click Save.
  2. AdWing stores it locally. Nothing changes on Meta. You'll see "Saved locally. Push to Meta to sync."
  3. A Pending Push badge appears on the item.
  4. When ready, click Push and confirm the prompt.
  5. On success the badge clears and you'll see "✅ Pushed to Meta."

Result: the item matches what's live on Meta until you edit it again.

The four words that matter

  • Save — stores the change inside AdWing only. Reversible, no Meta effect, no spend impact.
  • Pending Push — the badge marking an item with unsent local changes.
  • Push — the only action that makes anything live on Meta.
  • Discard — throws away local changes and restores the item from Meta. Clears the badge without pushing.

One exception worth knowing: discarding an item that was created in AdWing and never pushed deletes it, because there is no Meta version to restore. For an ad, the toast reads "Discarded — ad removed."

Combining changes into one push

Several local edits to the same item sit under one Pending Push badge. A single Push sends them all together, so related changes — new copy plus a new creative, for instance — always land in the same update.

⚠️ But two different actions commit them. Save commits copy edits; Done commits a creative swap. Do both before pushing, or only one lands. See update copy and creative together.

Syncing never overwrites your pending changes

Sync from Meta pulls the latest data in without touching edits that are still pending. You can sync at any time without losing work in progress.

Drafts are a different thing

A draft is a campaign you started but never pushed — it doesn't exist on Meta at all, and lives under Drafts. A Pending Push item does exist on Meta and has unsent edits. Don't confuse them.

Live-ads warning ⚠️ Pushing publishes to Meta immediately. Changes affect live ads and can spend real budget. Test with items named test_ unless you intend to change live ads.

If it doesn't work

What you see What it means What to do
The badge won't clear after Push The push failed Check the Action Log for the error, then retry
"Save failed: …" The local save was rejected Re-open the editor and try again
A change vanished after a sync Sync preserves pending edits, so the edit probably wasn't saved Redo the edit, confirm the badge appears, then push
Discard removed something you wanted Discard can't be undone Redo the edit and Push instead
